SAILING COURSES & TRAINING

1. Acquaintance with sailing: This is a 5 days course, where you get to know what sailing is about. It requires a minimum of 6 persons. You can book it in advance.

2. Certificate (full) course: This is a 2 week course, where you learn the secrets of sailing and sail power along with coastal navigation e.t.c., giving you an “offshore sailing certificate. It requires a minimum of 6 persons. You can book it in advance.

With the booking is given a down payment of 50%. The rest in the beginning of the cruise. For more information please contact us.

MONDAY 15:30-18:30 THEORY I

Anchors (types – advantages – disadvantages – gear – cable). Boat motors.

TUESDAY 09:00-12:00 PRACTICE 2 group A

TUESDAY 12:00-15:00 PRACTICE 2 group B

TUESDAY 15.30-19:30 THEORY II

Introduction. Wind – Waves – terminology. Basic aerodynamics. Cross sections -pressure – suction – sail forces – sail trim – apparent wind. Boat handling (tacking -gibing). Sailing video tapes

WEDNESDAY 12:00-15:00 PRACTICE 3 group B

WEDNESDAY 15:30-18:30 THEORY III

Boat safety. Equipment – man overboard procedures – at-sea emergencies – broken mast. fire – hull penetration – running aground – abandon ship – life raft procedures. Emergency signals.

Sail trim. – Survival. Hypothermia. Sailing video tapes

PRACTICE 

During the practical program sessions the following subjects will be covered:

-Getting familiar with the Boat. Terminology. Instrumentation. Safety gear.

-Marlinespike seamanship (knots…etc.)

-Sails handling (hosting – changing – reefing – stowage, etc.)

-Mooring. Helm practice. Steering by compass.

Introduction. sailing history . How sailing and races were born. Terminology. Types of sail boats. Wind, wind rose, Beaufort scale. Waves, currents. Boat stability. Hull speed. Survival.
